My Grandmother's Bread & Butter Pickles

25-30 medium size cucumbers, sliced
8 large onions, sliced thin and separated
2 large sweet peppers, chopped
1/2 c. salt
5 c. cider vinegar
5 c. sugar
1 t. tumeric
1/2 t. cloves
1/2 t. celery seeds
celery, sliced, optional
cauliflowerets, optional

Bring salt, vinegar, sugar, tumeric, cloves, and celery seeds to a boil. Boil for 3 minutes. Pour over cucumbers, onions, peppers, celery, and cauliflower inside hot sterile jars. Seal. Store in a cool, dark place. Ready to eat in 3 weeks.

*I've never made these on my own, but I used to help my grandmother make them when I went to visit her on the farm growing up. Precious memories : )

**My brother says he doesn't like onions, but when he was little he always wanted the "strings" (onions) out of the pickle jar! LOL
