Hash Brown Casserole

2 lbs. shredded hash browns, defrosted
1/2 c. melted margarine
1 t. salt
1/2 c. chopped onion
8 oz. sour cream
8-10 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 t. pepper
1 can cream of chicken soup
2 c. crushed corn flakes}optional for topping
1/4 c. melted margarine}optional for topping

Combine potatoes with 1/2 c. melted margarine, salt, & pepper. Add onions, soup, sour cream and cheese. Blend thoroughly. Place in sprayed 9x13 dish. Add topping if desired. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes. 
*Add cooked cubed chicken, if desired for a complete meal.
